HOW To Transfer Files From One Computer To Another Without Using USB Flash

You can share your files from your pc to your friend's pc without the use of USB flash drive. All you need to do is to use your existing home network to transfer your files, given that both of your systems are connected. The speed can vary from ‘incredibly fast’ on a wired network to ‘pretty damn slow’ on a wireless one. The steps below explain how you can do that:

➡ Download mHotspot Here

➡ Install the mHotspot and open it.

➡ Configure your mHotspot by inputing your Username and Password, and also configure the limit number of users you want to share your hotspot network with and click on Start Hotspot.

➡ Connect your pc and that of your friend's to the existing hotspot network you created.
Note: Either you or your friend can create a hotspot for network connectivity via mHotspot or your mobile phone without oning your data bundle.

Enable the sharing of the folder(s) you want to share with your friend.
In Mac OS X, just go to System Preferences -> Sharing, and the rest is pretty obvious.

In Windows, the process is quite easy as well. Open your file explorer and right-click on the file you want to share with your friend, click on Properties. In the Sharing tab, enable file sharing for the folder and also tick all the boxes under allow via permission. Below is a screenshot of how it looks like on a Windows 8 PC.

If your file isn’t Shared, go to the Network and Sharing Screen and open the 'Sharing’ settings. Here you’ll be able to turn on File and Printer Sharing.
NOTE: You must turn off password protected sharing

➡ On your system and your friend's, you should be able to find the folder shared in ‘Network’. Your friend can now double click to open the folder you shared, and copy and paste the files he/she wants to.

Don't forget to comment if you're having any difficulty in any of the steps given above and also remember to share this tutorial with friends.

  2. The drawbacks are that the source computer must have a CD burner, the target computer at least a CD reader.
